FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metering equipment and may be used for monitoring of mechanical parametres of construction structures and tuning of low frequency resonance contours. Method consists in the fact that after pulse excitation of oscillations they are compared to two heteropolar threshold levels, which are established as considerably lower than maximum amplitude of oscillations. Besides pulses are generated, duration of which depends on time of oscillations growth between threshold levels, and durations Tk and Tk+i of neighboring pulses are measured, as well as time gap Tx between them. Decrement of decay is calculated by expression δ=(Tk+1-Tk)/π(Tk+1+Tk), and resonance frequency of oscillations is identified by formula fp=(1+0.5δ)/[Tx+0.5(Tk+1+Tk)].

EFFECT: makes it possible to increase accuracy of resonance frequency and oscillation decay decrement measurement at low duration of measurement cycle.
