FIELD: electrical engineering; universal electrical machines. SUBSTANCE: synchronous generator has stator carrying three-phase winding and shaft-mounted rotor with field winding. Phase circuits of stator winding are provided with selector switch affording their series-parallel connection and changing over from star to delta connection and vice versa. Rotor field winding has two parallel circuits one of which can be connected to DC supply and other is connected to automatic field regulation system. Both circuits of rotor winding are connected to slip rings of brush gear and are interconnected. Coupling 10 used to connect generator shaft to drive motor 12 is provided with speed reduction gear 11. Novelty is that same generator can be used at 50 Hz and at other frequencies, such as 200 Hz, for supplying loads with electric power at these frequencies, as well as to feed rectified current to welding facilities. Such welding generator has dropping external characteristic in welding zone. EFFECT: provision for development of universal electrical machines having reduced mass and size characteristics comparable with synchronous and induction machines of standard design. 6 dwg
