METHOD FOR PERFORMING ANTROATTICOTOMY Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves making slit saw cut in exterior wall of atticoantral region strictly in the plane of mastoidosquamous suture. Due to atticoantral region forming in the hiatus between the mastoidal and squamous components of the temporal bone at embryo development period, access to the region is carried out in pure anatomical way in the plane of mastoidosquamous seam, avoiding a lot of severe complications typical in the cases of generally applied antroatticotomy methods, caused by complexity of individual variants of atticoantral region topography. The slit saw cut is carried out between the bony canal in the antrum and earlier drilled window made according to antrodrainage method in the exterior wall of attica to enable complete revision of the atticoantral region to be carried out. The operation ends in introducing drainage tube into the antrum and applying cutaneous sutures over the edges of cutaneous cut around the drainage tube through which the middle ear is washed with bactericidal drugs as treatment course in postoperative period carried out until full recovery is achieved. Then the drainage tube is removed. The opening, arisen due to tube, independently skins over and heals. Half a year later, after the operation, myringoplasty can be done.
