FIELD: petrochemical syntheses. SUBSTANCE: invention may be applied to produce gas for synthesis of methanol, higher alcohols, ammonia, and industrial-grade hydrogen. Method is realized by converting hydrocarbon raw material in presence of steam in the first step using heat evolved in the second step reaction, whereupon first-step products are converted in the second step in presence of oxygen- containing gas. According to invention, steam conversion of hydrocarbons in the first step is conducted at temperature difference on inlet and outlet of catalyst bed 25-70 C at the expense of second- step products' heat transferred with fine particles recycling over closed circuit. First-step temperature is 629-773 C. Temperature of conversion gas on system outlet is 700-818 C. EFFECT: reduced power consumption. 3 cl, 1 tbl
