FIELD: solid-propellant rocket engines for space operation, mainly with spherical form of housing. SUBSTANCE: solid- propellant rocket engine has spherical housing made in form of nondetachable front and nozzle bottoms fastened together by means of cylindrical section whose length does not exceed 1.5 of its diameter; engine is also provided with nozzle, composite propellant charge having central blind passage with slotted saw-cuts and open end surface on side of nozzle bottom. End wall of blind passage is located in zone of cylindrical section of housing and total free volume of charge cavity including the cavity of central passage and slots, as well as cavity of end clearance between open end surface of charge and nozzle bottom is equal to W≥ σкр•K, where σкр is area of throat section of nozzle, sq.m, K= 0.027 is empirical coefficient.
