Blocks of thus obtained data bits should satisfy, for example, condition of (d, k)-constraints. Number of sequential zeroes in (d,k)-constrained trains is limited by d minimum and k maximum of zeroes placed between each pair of sequential ones. According to invention, separation block is inserted between each block containing n data bits. If format is not assigned by (d,k)-constraints, bit separation is chosen so that low-frequency spectrum and, particularly, DC current unbalance were as low as possible.
