FIELD: pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing sanguiritrin from plume poppy (Macleya, Bocconia, lat. ) species above-ground parts. Extraction of vegetable raw is carried out with aliphatic alcohol (for example, aqueous ethanol) in the presence of ammonium hydroxide. Organic solvent is removed from extract under vacuum, an aqueous vat residue is treated with hydrophobic organic solvent (for example, methylene chloride, dichloroethane, chloroform, toluene, ethyl acetate). The end alkaloid bisulfate is precipitated by treatment of an aqueous phase with diluted sulfuric acid. Technical product is separated, washed with organic solvent that is used at the stage of liquid-phase extraction and then with acetone, dried and purified by the known method. Additional stage involves washing an organic phase with water up to neutral reaction before the precipitation stage of the end product with sulfuric acid. EFFECT: improved method of preparing. 3 tbl
