FIELD: removal of oil impurities from water. SUBSTANCE: method enables increasing extent of removing dispersed petroleum products from bulk of water by way of developing hydrodynamic condition for flow of water to be treated with preserving purification efficiency in presence of synthetic surfactants or decontaminants. Apparatus ensures efficient and time stable purification resulting in residual petroleum product concentration less than 0.5 ppm without replacing filter material. Method includes heating of water with maintaining constant temperature gradient along height of coil heater through which water moves in upward direction and imposing centrifugal force on media to be separated. After purification of water from liquid petroleum products is performed in lower part of bulk of granular filter filler consisting of heat-hardened glass balls with removing heat therefrom to starting oil-polluted water. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 5 cl, 4 dwg
