FIELD: waste water treatment and oil removal. SUBSTANCE: petroleum products separated after settling are heated to a temperature high enough to strip away light fractions. Remaining water-insoluble petroleum product is used as extractant when dispersed in water being subjected to additional treatment. The latter is then settled and withdrawn separately.
