Frame 1 is allowed to be set around pipe 3 to be worked and can move over the surface of the pipe laterally due the wheels. There are also means that allows the device to be balanced on pipe 3 in working. The means consist of detecting means 85 made up as a pendulum with a pickup for detecting undesirable shifts of frame 1 in the tangential direction of pipe 3 and control device made up as hydraulic cylinders 62 with the common system of hydraulic pipe lines and valves for control of angular position of the axes of one or more moving wheels in response to a signal supplied by detecting means 85.
