FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes novel chemical compounds of hydantoin class, more particularly 1-hydroxyalkyl-3-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl) and 3- hydroxyalkyl-1-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-5,5-dimethyl hydantoins which are prepared by reacting 3-(2,3- dihydroxypropyl-5,5-dimethylhydantoin with formaldehyde, alkylene oxides and 1-hydroxymethyl-5,5-dimethyl hydantoin with glycidol, and also 3-hydroxyalkyl-5,5- dimethylhydantoins with glycidol, respectively, and can be used as semiproducts in organic synthesis. EFFECT: improved properties.
