METHOD OF SURFACE HEAT TREATMENT OF BEARING RACES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: radiation heat treatment of raceways of bearing races with use of laser and electron beams. SUBSTANCE: the offered method includes simultaneous heat treatment of inner and outer races of bearing, either, by laser radiation, or by electron flux with preset width of hardened layer and concurrent tempering of transition zones of raceway of bearing race. Total width of tempering zone and hardened layer of each race is larger than, or equal to, width of raceway of this race. Treatment may be carried out, both, by one radiation flux, and by two radiation fluxes. Possible also is treatment of outer race with laser flux, and inner race by electron flux.
