FIELD: deposition of coat on surfaces of articles. SUBSTANCE: method involves subjecting surface of hard alloy article to vibrational and abrasive working prior to deposition of multilayer composite coat, with amplitude and frequency values providing creation of residual compression stresses on article surface for time sufficient to obtain radius of rounded portions of working parts of article at least equal to double total thickness of layer worn during operation of article. Residual compression stresses range between 0.1 of microhardness and 1.6 of ultimate strength of alloy. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of coat. 1 tbl
