FIELD: in machining processes for production of wear-resistant coatings to working surfaces of articles in the form of cutting and stamping tools, and also friction couples. SUBSTANCE: coating has adhesion sublayer, transition and alternating layers of high-melting compounds. Adhesion sublayer has at least one element from composition of base material and/or its compound, and one element from composition of transition layer of coating and/or its compound. Transition layer contains high-melting compound of metals of IV, and or V, and/or VI groups. The first of alternating layers has high-melting compounds of metals of IV and/or V, and/or VI groups alloyed with aluminum, and the second layer contains high-melting compounds of metals of said groups. Adhesion sublayer may additionally contain active metals from series of Ti, and/or Zr, and/or V, and/or Cr, and/or Al reduced from oxides in medium of hydrogen, in amount of 5-30%. Total thickness of coating is selected depending on tool type. Reinforcing sublayer may be additionally made between coating and article material.
