FIELD: railway transport; shoe brakes for locomotives and other railway vehicles. SUBSTANCE: brake has friction pair consisting of wheel with flange and brake shoe in body of which groove with alternating shaped and free sections for engagement with wheel flange is made. Length of shaped sections is not larger than half of shoe length. Shaped sections of groove are made with uniform initial clearance over perimeter of flange. Side clearance between mating surfaces of inclined portion of flange and groove on length of free section is variable in size formed by arc with convexity into shoe body. Through ports are made in width of groove over length of each free section. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities, improved reliability. 2 cl, 4 dwg
