FIELD: building article production. SUBSTANCE: mix comprises caustic magnesite, magnesium chloride solution, cellulose containing vegetable type filler, e.g. sawdust. The mix is novel in that it further comprises swollen perlite, the ratio of components being as follows, wt.-%: aqueous magnesium chloride solution, 45-54; caustic magnesite, 25-35; cellulose containing vegetable type filler, 5-9; and perlite, 11-21. The method is novel in that it comprises stirring caustic magnesite with cellulose containing vegetable type filler, e. g. sawdust and subsequently moistening the mixture with magnesium chloride solution. The repeated stirring is novel in that swollen perlite added to the mixture is first powdered with one half of required amount of caustic magnesite by stirring for at least 2 minutes, the mixture is then combined with the remaining amount of caustic magnesite and filler and prior to moistening the whole is stirred for at least 2 minutes, and final stirring is accomplished for least 15 minutes. EFFECT: improved properties. 3 cl
