METHOD OF AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING PROCESS OF IRON PENTACARBONYL SYNTHESIS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: chemical and petrochemical industries. SUBSTANCE: iron pentacarbonyl is synthesized in system containing synthesis column 1; filter 2; carbonyl condenser 3; separator 4; circulation compressor 5; preheater 6; sensors of fresh gas consumption and carbon monoxide content therein 7,8; pressure and circulation gas composition 9,10; CO partial pressure control circuit 14,15; temperature control circuit 11,12,13; separator level control means 16; valve on circulation gas discharge 17; and computing device 18. Computing device mediated computation of CO consumption and CO partial pressure in circulation gas is performed using indications of sensors 7,8 and 9,10, respectively. Afterwards difference between total circulation gas pressure and CO partial pressure in circulation gas is computed, that difference being maintained by means of releasing a part of circulation gas through valve 17. Computer- commanded control circuit 14,15 increases carbonylation CO intake by way of adjusting temperature in reactor zone by agency of circuit 11,12,13 depending on CO partial pressure and, when maximum value of carbonylation CO is achieved, that value is further maintained. Computing device searches optimum setting value for control circuit 11,12,13 which corresponds to minimum value of CO partial pressure in discrete variation range of this pressure. When pressure in system reaches its limiting value, setting for temperature control circuit is computed depending on degree of decrease of reaction gas supply.
