FIELD: personal protection against hit at small arms fire. SUBSTANCE: protective vest has the back and breast sections made of a set of members and placed in bags connected by fastening-adjusting devices. Each member has a pack of ballistic cloth with an armor plate installed inside it and having an area of 0.05-0.3 of the member area. The number of member cloth layers located on the exterior side of the section before the armor plates makes up 0.1-0.3 of the total number of cloth layers in a section, which ensures protection against secondary splinters. The sets of members are installed with mutual overlapping between the adjacent armor plates by 0.7-2.0 of the thickness of the section cloth part. The members are fastened around the external outline of the sections in such a way that the length of fastening for each member makes up 0.3-0.8 of the outline edge so as to ensure relative displacement of the armor plates. The joint of the members making up 1.05-1.1 of their maximum width provides for replacement of the armor plates. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 1 dwg
