FIELD: determination of share of brittle failure in standard macrocrystalline break or shock samples with grain size 60 or more microns during mechanical tests. SUBSTANCE: tested sample is exposed to beam of X-rays, X-ray pattern is produced on light-sensitive medium placed behind tested sample and tested zone of produced X-ray pattern is limited. Total number of Laue spots (Nin) having no manifested asterism which dimensions are equal to dimensions of initial Laue spots, i.e. of nondeformed samples, is counted on X-ray pattern produced by exposure of tested sample to radiation of X-ray beam. X-ray pattern is taken from plate cut out of initial nondeformed sample in same geometrical conditions and under same accelerating voltage for determination of dimensions of Laue spots of nondeformed sample. Relation gives percentage of grains experienced brittle failure in examined sample. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity.
