FIELD: fire extinguishing, mainly, in machine compartment of ships. SUBSTANCE: flame is extinguished or, at least, suppressed by means of concentrated atomization with high penetration energy and use of high working pressure. Pressure is gradually reduced to spray liquid in form of mist. Extinguishing liquid is preferably supplied to spraying heads with the use of hydraulic accumulators.
