METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF SILICONE MASSES VULCANIZABLE AT HIGH TEMPERATURES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2091222 C1

FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: diorgano/poly/siloxane in amount of 100 wt. parts and having viscosity 50-100000 Pa.s and highly dispersed silicon dioxide in amount of at least 20 wt.parts and having post-compaction density above 0.01 kg/l are fed into oscillating single-roll Pilger mixer. Both components are mixed together, followed by homogenizing resulting mass. Silicone mass thus-produced has Mooney viscosity 15-130, it is vulcanizable at high temperatures and has following composition, parts by weight: diorgano/poly/siloxane-100, finely divided silicon dioxide having post-compaction density above 0.01 kg/l - 20-200, filler-not more than 100, structure-improving agent-not more than 30, cross-linking agent- not more than 7, other additives = not more than 30. Diorgano/poly/siloxane used by method has viscosity from 500 to 50000 Pa.s at temperature 25 C. Oscillating Pilger mixer has total length equal to (1-30) auger diameters. Diorgano/poly/siloxane is charged into mixer along its portion having length of not more than 42 augers, while silicon dioxide is charged along mixer portion having length equal to (0.5-10) auger diameters, temperature inside mixer being maintained within 20-280 C. After increasing pressure inside mixer, finished silicone mass is discharged through sieving device onto continuous-action milling machine for cooling down to temperature below 100 C, said cross-linking agents and/or pigments and/or additives being processed on milling machine.
