FIELD: inorganic compounds production. SUBSTANCE: superfine inorganic oxides are treated by at least one silylation reagent poor-volatile within overall process temperature range, silylation reagent being added as liquid in the form of superfine aerosol with drop size less than 500 mcm. Resultant highly apolar pyrogenic silicic acid is characterized by average particle size less than 100 nm, carbon level at least 1 wt % per 100 sq.m/g specific surface (according to BET method), methanol index at least 50, relative hydroxide ion absorption capacity below 25%, lack of soluble and extractable with silicic acid fractions of organosilicon compound, and no isolate silanol groups observed in IR spectra at 3750 cm-1 wavenumber. Product is adequate for use as thickener in polar systems, as absorbent for lubricant oils, as agent improving flowability of toners, and as component of antifoaming agents. EFFECT: improved consumer's properties. 12 cl, 3 tbl, 44 ex
