FIELD: study of atomic dynamics of substance with use of inelastic incoherent scattering of slow neutrons. SUBSTANCE: proposed neutron spectrometer makes it possible to study samples with size of several cu.mm at level of energy resolution not below 15% and presents neutron spectrometer composed of input collimator, sample holder, filter, analyzer, collimator, detector, system checking position of sample, system for collection and processing of information. Filter, analyzer, collimator and detector are made in the form of closed systems placed uniaxially to incident beam of neutrons in planes perpendicular to direction of incident beam of neutrons. Size of hole of input collimator amounts to 1.0-1.1 cross-section of sample. Sample holder is anchored uniaxially on input collimator.
