FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed for manufacture of strong permanent joint between shell and core of electrode and increased quality of up setting of electrode head which are achieved by direct extrusion of component workpiece with relative deformation degree of 40. . .90% after pressing of copper core into barrel. Then head of electrode is formed by upsetting. Bottom of working hole of punch is made convex and later diffusion welding is conducted. Process allows bimetal central electrodes capable of low wear not exceeding 0.08-0.10 mm per 10000 km run to be manufactured which will ensure stable thermal characteristic (deviation of incandescence numbers from rated value should not exceed ±5%) of sparking plugs.
