FIELD: mechanical engineering, workpiece surface conditioning by grinding. SUBSTANCE: machine has a bridge installed on the bed guides, and a carriage connected to a hydraulic cylinder moves on the bridge guides. Mounted on the carriage journals is a swing grinding wheel head carrying the grinding wheel and connected to the swing hydraulic cylinder. The wheel and hydraulic cylinder extend in cantilever on both sides of the grinding wheel head. Distance between the longitudinal axis of the swing grinding wheel and the axis of the head swing hydraulic cylinder ((l₁)) is selected proceeding from the following condition: , where: l₂ - distance between the grinding wheel contact spot and the grinding wheel head longitudinal axis; L₁ - distance between the grinding wheel contact spot and the journals axis; L₂ - distance between the grinding wheel hydraulic cylinder axis and the journals axis, and the projection of the carriage hydraulic cylinder axis passes through the spot of contact of the grinding wheel with the surface being ground.
