FIELD: metallurgical industry. SUBSTANCE: this relates to smelting cast iron for castings in hot-blast cupolas. According to method, smelting is started at maximum temperature of blast air equal to 450-550 C which is maintained during 75-85% of total smelting period. Then delivery of gas for heating of air heater is discontinued and smelting is finished at air blow temperature within 150-200 C, and heating is effected due to heat accumulated by refractory lining of air heater.
