METHOD OF MAINTAINING SELF-BURNING ANODE IN ELECTROLYZERS WITH UPPER POWER SUPPLY Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2092621 C1

FIELD: aluminium production. SUBSTANCE: invention concentrates on maintaining anode when finger contacts are transposed. Transposition of power-supply contacts from lower level to upper one is terminated on achieving "contact-anode lower edge" distance ranged from 0.51 to 1.31 diameter of cylindrical part of contact. Transposition is performed with pitch corresponding to 3.33 to 3.63 the same diameter. Height of alumina-containing raw material in under- contact hole is determined from the formula: A = H-(0.05-0.35)D where H is contact transposition height and D diameter of cylindrical part of contact. EFFECT: reduced power consumption, anode mass, and effort. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 3 tbl
