FIELD: electrolytic production of aluminium in electrolyzers with self-firing anode and upper current lead. SUBSTANCE: density of current is decreased locally by disconnection of current-carrying pins from electric network till cracks are removed while running electrolysis on self-firing anode of aluminium electrolyzer 2 to 10% of pins are disconnected in this case. Disconnected pins can be not removed from body of anode or removed and returned to their positions after removal of cracks. EFFECT: reduced usage of anode mass, electric energy, labour input, increased productivity of electrolyzer and quality of produced aluminium. 3 cl, 2 tbl
