FIELD: pulp-and- paper industry. SUBSTANCE: wood chip is digested with mixture of concentrated acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide in presence of phosphoric acid catalyst. Hydrogen peroxide consumption is 1.7-3.4% based on chip weight and that of phosphoric acid 0.25-1.0% based on digestion liquid volume. Digestion is carried out at 100-120 C and water duty 1:1 for 1-2 h. Acetic acid is then steam stripped and alkali extraction with 4% NaOH is performed at 150 C and water duty 1:4 for 1 h.
