FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines; heating of air at starting by means of starting preheater furnished with one glow plug. SUBSTANCE: glow plug is constantly heated during first time period and operated at pulsed mode during the following period and at a lapse of guaranteed time period, glow plug gets switched off if engine fails to start. At repeated starting attempt time of glow plug heating can be set depending on duration of its cooling after switching off. EFFECT: improved reliability of air heating. 5 cl, 2 dwg
