FIELD: environment control; spent nuclear fuel recovery, preparation of radionuclide-containing for long-time storage. SUBSTANCE: method for producing compound for long-time storage of iodine-129 isotope involves transfer of iodine contained in source nitric acid solution to molecular form, extraction of molecular iodine into organic solution, and introduction of excess copper powder into solution obtained. Mixture is intensively stirred until solution is bleached, then sediment is separated and sent for storage. EFFECT: eliminated loss of iodine during preparation of compound to be stored.
