FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: method involves oxidizing iodides contained in water into elementary iodine which is completed by means of sodium hypochlorite with no preliminary acidification of drilling water, iodine being simultaneously extracted into organic phase. Reextraction of iodine and its purification are performed via solid-phase procedure using metal copper.
