FIELD: optical toys. SUBSTANCE: kaleidoscope has tube, three mirror plates, transparent glass, fragments of light-transmitting multicolored glass and shadow mask. One end of tube is closed with cover having viewing opening and other end is closed with opaque glass. Three mirror plates are fixed within tube along its length and secured at an angle of 60 deg one to another. Transparent glass is positioned between mirror plates and opaque glass. Glass fragments are placed in space between glasses. Shadow mask is positioned on outer surface of opaque glass so that it covers this glass and may be rotated about optical axis of kaleidoscope and edge of opaque glass. Ratio of shadow mask and opaque glass areas is within the range of 0.2-0.3. EFFECT: increased entertaining effect and simplified construction. 2 dwg
