FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: according to method, hard-faced to ridge of rim of rotating railway wheel is recovering metal. Procedure consists in successive application of annular rolls, then wheel is cooled and is subjected to machining. Hard-facing of ridge is effected over inner side surface of wheel rim which is opposite to worn surface of rim. Wheel rim restored by aforesaid method is made up of ridge, inner and outer side surfaces, and rolling surface. Axis of symmetry of wheel rim ridge is displaced relative to rolling surface towards inner side surface of wheel rim. EFFECT: high efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
