FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: main aluminium chloride is prepared by treating raw material with hydrochloric acid in two stages. In first stage treatment is carried till the yield of basic aluminium chloride is as high as 75-90 %, and in second stage, treatment is carried out at specific surface area of aluminium 50-100 sq.m/kg in the raw material and at aluminium to hydrochloric acid stoichiometric ratio.
