METHOD OF PROCESSING OF METALLURGICAL SLAG Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to technology of metallurgical processes, technology of inorganic matters, technology of production of key aluminium chlorides from aluminium carrying stock and preparation of construction materials. Method of processing of metallurgical slags carrying aluminium, halogenides, nitrides, carbides and sulphides of metals includes comminution of slag, separation of it into small and large fractions, washing of small fraction with water to remove halogenides of metals with formation of gases and treatment of small washed fraction of slag with hydrochloric acid with subsequent filtering. Dissolution with acid is conducted at two stages with production of key aluminium chloride and slag. Process of interaction at first stage is carried out to 75-91% output of key aluminium chloride, at second stage - with stoichiometric proportion of aluminium to hydrochloric acid and value of specific surface of aluminium equal to 50-100 sq.m/kg. In this case slag unsolved in hydrochloric acid is used as mineralization agent in production of cement. Gases formed with treatment of small fraction of slag with water and carrying ammonia, hydrogen, methane and hydrogen sulphide are successively washed with water and treated with hydrogen peroxide with production of ammonia water and sulphuric ammonium and formed mixture of methane and hydrogen is burnt.
