Claimed method comprises reacting oxysubstituted organic compound, phosphorus trichloride and pentaerythrite to form organic radical substituted diphosphaspiroundecane and formation of said organic radical diphosphaspiroundecane occurs in the presence of tri-n-alkylamine having n-alkyl residues, each of which has at least three carbon atoms. The present invention also describes bis-3,9-(2,6-di-tert alkyl-4-alkylphenoxy)-2,4,8,10-tetraoxa-3,9- diphosphaspiro (5,5) undecanes and polymeric composition containing said compounds in effective amount.
