FIELD: magnet alloys. SUBSTANCE: when preparing rare-earth metal-based alloys for constant magnets, crucible is first loaded with iron (and, if necessary, with boron or iron-boron alloy), smelted, supplemented with rare-earth metals, allowed to stand for 5-30 min, and crystallized. To prepare alloys containing refractory metals as alloying components, iron-refractory metal addition alloy is preliminarily smelted out with refractory metal content not higher than 15 wt % and is loaded into crucible with iron. To prepare alloys containing aluminum and cobalt as alloying components, the two latter are loaded in pure state together with iron. Smelting and crystallization processes are conducted in split copper water-cooled crucible. EFFECT: reduced loss of rare-earth metals and achieved uniform distribution of refractory component. 5 cl, 1 tbl
