FIELD: measurement technology, measurement of temperature in center of large articles ( ingots, forgings) to provide for required mode of heating. SUBSTANCE: temperature in central point of section of article protected against thermal action of furnace medium by heat insulation strap made from refractory material is assumed to be temperature in center of article. Dimensions of strap are determined by mathematical modelling consisting in solving of heat conductivity equation with allowance for equality of sums of heat flows coming to elements of equal volume embracing center of article and point of temperature check. Minimal value of root-mean-square deviation between temperatures in center of article and in point of check is provided. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity of method. 3 dwg
