FIELD: waste disposal. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at recovering iron in the form of powder from process solutions in plating and metallurgical industries. To aqueous solution, e.g. iron chloride solution, or exhausted iron plating electrolyte, or exhausted etching solution, disperse aluminum as reducing agent is added at iron to aluminum ratio 1:(1-2). Reduction is carried out in presence of hydrochloric acid taken at molar ratio (0.005-0.5): 1. EFFECT: increased purity of iron recovered (to 98-99%). 2 cl, 1 tbl
