GEAR FOR AUTOMATIC FEED OF ALUMINA INTO ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2114217 C1

FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy, electrolytic production of aluminum. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to design of gear for automatic feed of alumina into aluminum electrolyzer. Proposed gear has oblong bin composed of accumulation vessel and drain space, discharge members, forcing-through members with drive and sealing unit. Drain space is manufactured as transporting and dosing member in the form of box-shaped parallelepiped or tube with longitudinal horizontal porous partition that forms lower and upper spaces. Lower space is connected to compressed air network through pressure regulator and electromagnetic valve, upper space is connected to accumulation vessel with the aid of longitudinal matching slot of internal wall of accumulation vessel and wall of transporting ( dosing ) member. Dosing member can be arranged with inclination at angle of 0.5-5.0 deg towards discharge member. Dosing member is joined to discharge member in its upper part for release of spent compressed air into atmosphere through sealing unit of forcing-through member. Bin and dosing member can be divided into two parts - left and right. EFFECT: increased productivity of electrolyzer, quality of produced aluminum, decreased consumption of electric energy, reduced specific amount of metal, labor input, compressed air and losses of fluoride compounds. 3 cl, 1 dwg , 1 tbl
