FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: DC contactor has power supply, power contact, main thyristor, main-thyristor forced switching unit that incorporated switching thyristor and capacitor interconnected in series, charging circuit incorporating series-connected charging thyristor and resistor, thyristor control unit, and load circuit; one of power contact leads is connected to positive lead of power supply, to main-thyristor anode, and switching thyristor anode; switching thyristor cathode is connected to common point of connection of one of switching capacitor plates and one of leads of charging circuit; second plate of switching capacitor is connected to cathode of main thyristor and to positive lead of load circuit; second lead of charging circuit is connected to negative lead of load circuit; connected in parallel with main thyristor is circuit of series-connected first nonlinear resistive element and first back diode; load circuit is shorted out by circuit of series-connected second nonlinear resistive element and second back diode whose anode is connected to negative lead of load circuit and to that of power supply; pulse transformer primary winding is connected to leads of second nonlinear resistive element and its secondary winding is connected through third back diode to power supply leads.
