INSULATION PLATE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OF EXCITATION COILS FOR ELECTRIC MOTORS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: design of electric starters for internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: insulation plate which insulates excitation coils of electric motors is designed as rectangle with hole which is matched to hole in excitation coil. In addition plate has folds and on its one side parallel strips between which shutter with fold at its base is located. Width of strips is equal to width of arranged turns of coil, its length is equal to smaller side of coil hole plus width of arranged coil turns. Another side of plate has rectangular cuts which width is equal to coil depth and their depth is equal to width of arranged coil turns. Insulation of excitation coil using insulation plate is done by means of insertion of end of insulation plate into hole of coil on its convex side, and arrangement of insulation plate end on concave surface so that one inner side of hole is covered with piece of plate between two rectangular cuts. Then coil is further embraced with plate which folds are passed through hole so that inner shorter sides of hole are covered and arranged on convex side of coil. When this is finished, fold is passed through hole on side of convex coil surface so that its end is located between coil and plate on concave surface and another inner side of coil hole is covered. Parallel strips of plate are pressed against convex surface of coil. In addition free regions are provided between insulation plate and external coil surface in areas where ends of parallel strips of plate are located. These regions are cut in alternating order by means of plungers in order to provide locks as folded flaps which protect plate against unfolding.
