FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of hot rolling on continuous wide-sheet mills and may be used in setting-up rolls for charging into mill. Method involves measuring temperature of rolls displaced out of stand, their cooling, and refacing. Once refaced, rolls are heated to temperature which they had after displacement from stand, slightly cooled by water with sprinkling density 10-40 cu.m/sq.m per 1 h, water temperature being by 50-60 C below maximum temperature of roll overheated after refacing, and cooling operation lasting for 4-8 min.
