FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes compound comprising monocyclopentadienyl- or substituted monocyclopentadienyl metallic complex useful as additive polymerization catalyst of formula: CpMX+n

A- wherein Cp is single η5 cyclopentadientyl or η5-substituted cyclopentadientyl group optionally invalently bonded with M through substituent; M is metal of group 3-10 or lanthanide series of periodic table bonded with cyclopentadienyl or substituted cyclopentadienyl group under η5-binding conditions; X is, in each case, hydride or group selected from halo, alkyl, aryl, silyl, hermyl, aryloxy, alkoxy, amide, siloxy and combinations thereof (e.g. haloalkyl, haloaryl, halosilyl, alkaryl, aralkyl, silylalkyl, aryloxyaryl, alkyloxyalkyl, amidoalkyl, amidoaryl, and the like) and having up to 20 non-hydrogen atoms and neutral ligands such as Lewis base having up to 20 non- hydrogen atoms, or optionally one x together with Cp forms metallic complex with M; n is 1 or 2 depending on valency of M, and A- is non-coordinating compatible Bronsted acid salt anion.
