FIELD: polymerization processes. SUBSTANCE: process includes interaction under polymerization conditions of ethylene with copolymerization-capable alpha-olefin or diolefin in presence of catalyst, activating cocatalyst, and organic oxide carrier free of adsorption water and surface hydroxyl groups. Catalyst is prepared from metal complex of formula 1: X′ (1) or its dimer, where M is IV group metal with degree of oxidation 3 or 4; L is cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, fluorenyl, tetrahydroindenyl, tetrahydrofluorenyl, or octahydrofluorenyl or their derivatives substituted by inert substituents linking L group to M group; Z is part of molecule covalently bound both to L and to Y and containing boron or IV group element and up to 60 non-hydrogen atoms; Y is part of molecule containing nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, or oxygen serving as Y-Z and Y- M linkages and totally containing up to 25 non-hydrogen atoms (X, , q, and n are defined in claim 1).
