RESERVOIR FOR STORAGE, UTILIZATION OF POLLUTED LIQUID Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2095532 C1

FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to construction of underground, buried or ground surface reservoirs intended for storage, utilization of ecologically dangerous liquids contaminated with radioactive isotopes at nuclear power objects. Reservoir is made up of two vessels: internal vessel intended directly for filling with dirty liquid, and external guarding vessel intended for filling with liquid of high degree of purification and which can be made in the form of system of interconnected hollows created by way of dividing space between vessels by stiffening diaphragms. Internal vessel is installed through seismic-proof supports on foundations made inside guarding vessel on its bottom. These foundations have openings for passing water under bottom of internal vessel. Distance between walls and bottoms of vessels is sufficient for walking of attending personnel and performing operations related to inspection and repair of surfaces. Internal vessel is made of reinforced concrete (or similar material such as fibroconcrete which is practically watertight). Upper levels of liquid and consequently hydrostatic pressure on walls in both vessels are similar and they are controlled by sensors and regulated by valving equipment. For use of reservoir with purpose of localization of water contaminated with radioactive isotopes within emergency outburst localization system at atomic power stations, steam containing radioactive impurities is directed into internal vessel via passage through injectors, it is condensed in clear water held in this vessel at standby duty. In result, impurities stay in water thus making it dirty, and surplus air pressure is released to atmosphere. This design of reservoir provides full guarantee of no dirty liquid leakage beyond limits of internal vessel. EFFECT: high efficiency. 1 cl, 7 dwg
