FIELD: preparation of potable water. SUBSTANCE: proposed reservoir includes coaxial vertical tower with filtering medium inside it; tower is divided into two parts by horizontal load-bearing diaphragm: water intake pit for cleaned water where submersible pumps or water intake funnel is mounted and receiving compartment to which starting water to be cleaned is fed. Located in upper portion of receiving compartment on horizontal load-bearing perforated diaphragm is one or several layers of filter medium for cleaning and conditions starting water upward through filter medium. Provision is made for two groups of overflow ports: one group for transfer of cleaned water from receiving compartment to reservoir is located smoothly over perimeter of tower walls at similar height above upper layer of filter medium and second group intended for transfer of cleaned water from reservoir to water intake pit is located in walls of tower above bottom of reservoir.
