METHOD FOR BUILDING UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION UNDER COMPLICATED ENGINEERING AND GEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: construction industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves mounting at least two concentric inner and outer down shafts and submerging under gravity and loading; effectuating tunneling in two stages: at the first stage submerging inner shaft with annular cutter up to the ground at designed carrying capacity, providing penetration into ground and fixing; providing growth of this shaft above ground surface and securing upper part with tension members; at the second stage, submerging outer shaft with annular cutter, with vertical position and loading rate being corrected by means of winches, which are mounted on covering of inner shaft, cables connected to inner shaft walls making outer walls of construction, and vertical and horizontal strips defining inner shaft. Such method eliminates effect of adverse engineering and geological conditions on tunneling quality. Besides, additional inner shaft of construction may be used as supporting column for covering, lift shaft and stairwell for multistory car garage; areaway, covering supporting column and circulation fence for potable water supply reservoirs.
