FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: special inserts are introduced in the central through opening in a truncated ball before finishing. After completion of the finishing the inserts are removed. The inserts are rigidly interconnected through cylindrical necks whose diameter is less than that of the through opening. In the central through opening on the cylindrical neck is a friction member. The diameter of the base of the working surface of one of the inserts is equal to the diameter of the through opening in the truncated ball. The flexible friction member is made of rubber or other material, which allows the insert to be sealed and kept in the central opening of the truncated ball during finishing.
